Background
The Haja Marie Kargbo Foundation was borne out of the strong borne the Late Haja Marie Kargbo had with her granddaughter Mariama Kadijatu Wilson (Nee Bah). Having raised her to from childhood to Adulthood. Mamaa as her grandma fondly called her had a sentimental attachment with Haja.
Haja was not only Mamaa’s grandmother she was also her mother, sister and best friend. Their bond have no boundary as Haja shaped her Cultural, social and Educational life.
Born on a Tuesday morning August 28, 1934 in Pepel. She never met her father and was despised by her sibling and Mother; she grew up in an acrimonious environment making her childhood extremely difficult. This however, had a positive effect on her as she ensure that all her Children, Grand Children great grandchildren and all the others she came across enjoyed the loved she never had. She ensured that all the children in her household had the best education they can get at the time; even if it includes depriving herself of her basic needs, she encourages people, raised children boys, girls, women and men as part of her, Family.
After she had positively transformed the lives of many individual and families. Haja departed this world for the world hereafter on 16 November 2020. Mariama Kadijatu Wilson, hoping to carry the legacy of her best friend and confidant nurture the idea of helping the most vulnerable people in Sierra Leone by establishing The Haja Marie Kargbo Foundation commemorationof her 1 death Anniversary on the 16thof November 2020.
